Martha Thompson

Martha Gail Thompson, 53, of Hulbert died Tuesday afternoon, December 18, 2018 at her residence with her loving family at her side.

Born March 22, 1965 in Dallas, TX, daughter of the late Billy Jack and Betty Sue (Grounds) Thompson, she became a Licensed Practical Nurse through an at-home course in 1999 and became a school nurse for the Bethel School District in Pierce County, WA. She continued as a school nurse in various districts until 2017.

She attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She was diagnosed with colon cancer partway through her studies (in 2014), but beat cancer and went on to graduate Cum Laude with her BSN in December of 2015. She married Mike James March 24, 2018.

She was an active member of Lakeview Church of Christ in Tacoma and Cheboygan Church of Christ in Cheboygan. At Lakeview she was invited to participate in medical missions to Zambia, Africa. She used her medical knowledge to help hundreds of impoverished people get medicine and proper medical treatment.

She lived abroad in Korea and Germany, and travelled to Canada, Mexico, Africa and Puerto Rico. She also enjoyed knitting, Jane Austin movies and the Hallmark Channel, especially Christmas love stories.

Survivors include her loving husband, Mike James of Hulbert; sons, Jeremy Tittsworth and Tony (Jennifer) Tittsworth; stepchildren, Andre, Jaylen and April James; and siblings, Paul Thompson and Chris Thompson,

Per her request, cremation services were accorded. Memorials may be directed to ALS of Michigan, 24359 Northwestern Hwy., Suite 100, Southfield, MI 48075.
