Marc H. Leazier

Marc “Big Man” H. Leazier, 68, of Hulbert died Sunday afternoon, August 5, 2018 under the care of his loving family and North Woods Hospice at the home of Terry Wetherbee in Hulbert.

Born October 11, 1949 in Hulbert, son of the late Blake and Helen (Yon) Leazier, he was a graduate of Newberry High School. On October 17, 1967 he enlisted in the United States Army and served two tours in Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge October 8, 1970, he continued in the U.S. Army Reserves and attended Eastern Michigan University under the G.I. Bill.

He was employed as a corrections officer with the State of Michigan for more than 30 years, stationed in Jackson, and later in Munising until his retirement.

He was a member of Hulbert American Legion Post #393. His passions included riding his Harley-Davidson, music concerts and spoiling all dogs, and he was an avid MSU, Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and Lions fan.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Mary McGalliard.

Survivors include his son, Bram (Kerry) Leazier of Ypsilanti, and daughter, Bretta Leazier of Jackson; three grandchildren; siblings, Joseph (Kaye) and Roger (Phyllis), all of Hulbert; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and literally hundreds of friends.

Per his request, cremation services were accorded. A graveside service with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #393 and the United States Army Honor Guard will be held Saturday, August 11 at 4:30 p.m. at the Hulbert Township Cemetery.
