To the Editor and Community:

This is regarding our flags on Main Street. These flags are new this year and are replaced every three to five years. The cost of these flags is shared by the Newberry American Legion Post, McMillan Township and the Village of Newberry.

We at the Legion put these flags up with the assistance of the village bucket truck. We ask that if any of the flags fall from the lightposts and you pick them up, please return them to the American Legion Post.

We also put approximately 850 flags out at the cemetery. If we happen to miss a military grave, we apologize. It was not intentional, and if one sees that we missed a loved one, please come to the Legion and we would be glad to give you a flag.

Also, at the cemetery, our lot where Memorial Day Services are held looked great! Chris and Dixie Stewart maintain this area in memory of Hugh Stewart.

We appreciate all who are involved in the Memorial Day Services in McMillan and Newberry. The owners of the Petro station on Main Street were even kind enough to donate bottled water.
