Paradise Man Killed in Groomer/Snowmobile Accident

On February 26 the Sault Ste. Marie City Police and Sault Ste. Marie Fire and EMS responded to a report of an accident involving a snowmobile and snow trail groomer that occurred on the snowmobile trail near the Algonquin Ski Trail.

The driver of the groomer, Roy L. Pedersen, 65, of Paradise was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the snowmobile, Mark S. Goss, 58, of Ada was seriously injured and transported to War Memorial Hospital. He later was transported to Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. At last report he was listed as serious condition.

Pedersen was operating a 2015 John Deere side-byside, equipped with tracks, while grooming the cross country ski trail approximately a half-mile west of West 28th Street. Goss was operating a 2014 Yamaha. The collision resulted in a fire, destroying both vehicles following the accident.

The incident is still under investigation.
