Newberry Chamber Elects Officers, Sets Annual Dinner

by Lauren Burton

The Newberry Area Chamber of Commerce had a busy meeting Monday, January 8, when it held the election of officers, filled a board vacancy and solidified some plans for the Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner.

All members of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors are employed by Chamber member businesses. The 2018 officers will be:

President – Tammy Henry, Luce County EDC

Vice-president – Kirby Wendt, Forest Insurance Agency

Secretary/Treasurer – Lauren Burton, Newberry News

Amy McCreary was elected to fill the vacant seat on the Board of Directors. McCreary serves as director of human resources at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital.

The annual Chamber Dinner will be held Friday, April 20 at Pentland Township Hall. Breaking from tradition, this year’s dinner will not have a comedian for the night’s entertainment. Instead, attendees will enjoy A Night at the Races! This Kentucky Derby-style fundraiser is full of horse racing, betting and luck of the draw.

Chamber members are welcome at the monthly Newberry Area Chamber of Commerce meetings. The next meeting will be held February 5 at the Zellar’s Village Inn banquet room at 1:00 p.m. Meetings are generally the second Monday of each month.
