Harold J. Boucha

Harold J. Boucha, a longtime resident of Engadine, died Saturday, September, 9, 2017 at the Willows of East Lansing.

Born January 14, 1924 in Engadine, he was a son of the late Howard and Ruby (O’Neil) Boucha. He graduated from Engadine High School and entered the U.S. Army during WWII. Between his service and reserve service, he spent a total of 12 years serving his country.

He was living in Manistique when he married the former Margaret R. Kelly August 25, 1954 in Cooks. They moved to Lansing in 1954, where he became employed at General Motors. He retired from GM and returned to Engadine.

He was a member of the Lansing Delta Lions Club and American Legion/VFW in Engadine. A great baseball player who loved to watch sports, he was an avid Michigan State Spartans fan. He also enjoyed big band music that he played daily.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, and sisters, Vera Cerncovich, Beverly Klobucher and Marilyn Decker.

Survivors include his children, Kathe Boucha, Parnell Boucha, Laurie Vanderploeg, Brigitt Boucha and Pierre Boucha; and 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A veteran’s graveside service will be held at the Engadine Cemetery in Engadine Saturday, September 16 at 11:00 a.m. A service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
